🐍 Snake
Gobble apples, dodge your tail, chase the high score!
How to play Snake
How to play
Snake is the arcade legend that started it all: you are a hungry little serpent in a walled arena, and your only job is to eat. Every red apple you gobble makes you grow one segment longer and adds to your score — but it also makes you a bigger target for your two deadly enemies, the arena walls and your own ever-growing tail. Clip either one and the run ends instantly. There is no finish line and no levels to clear; this is a pure survival chase against your own high score. Each apple also nudges the pace up a notch, so the longer you survive, the twitchier your reflexes need to be. Plan your route a few moves ahead, leave yourself escape room near the edges, and remember that a full belly is a dangerous one.
Controls
- Arrow keys or WASD to steer — the snake turns on grid steps, and instant U-turns are ignored so you can't accidentally reverse into yourself.
- Swipe up, down, left or right anywhere on the board on touch screens.
- P or Esc to pause and resume; Enter or Space starts a new run or restarts after game over.
Tips
Resist the urge to chase every apple in a straight line — sweeping in wide loops keeps the middle of the arena open for escapes. When your tail gets long, trail it along a wall so it follows you in a tidy line instead of coiling into a trap. As the speed ramps up, tap the next direction just before you need it rather than mashing keys, since turns only register on grid steps. Never box yourself into a corner with no exit: always eat toward open space, and when a golden apple appears, only go for it if you can see a safe path out afterwards. A patient snake outlives a greedy one.
Scoring
Every red apple is worth 10 points. Every fifth apple grows golden and is worth 50 points — a juicy bonus for skilled survivors. Your best score is saved on your device automatically, so every run is a fresh shot at beating your own record. There are no lives and no continues: one crash, one final score.
