How to play Simon Says
How to play
Simon Says is the timeless game of memory and rhythm. Press Play and Simon shows you a sequence: one colored pad lights up and plays its own musical note. That single flash is round one. Your job: tap the same pad back. Get it right and Simon adds one more step, then replays the whole pattern from the beginning. Every round grows the sequence by one step. Tap the wrong pad even once and the show is over. Your score is the number of rounds you survived.
You cannot answer during playback, so watch patiently until the show ends. The sequence starts slow but speeds up as you climb, forcing you to feel the rhythm instead of counting steps. Many players hum the pattern or name the colors — "green, red, green, blue" — turning it into a little song.
Controls
- 🖱️ Click or tap a pad to press it during your turn.
- ⌨️ Keys 1–4 also work: 1 = green, 2 = red, 3 = yellow, 4 = blue (the key number is printed on each pad).
- ▶ Play starts a fresh game; Play Again restarts after game over.
Tips
- Chunk the sequence into groups of three or four — small groups are far easier to remember than one long string.
- Listen as well as watch: each pad has its own tone, so the pattern becomes a melody you can sing back.
- Keep a steady, unhurried tapping rhythm — rushing is the number one cause of mistakes.
Scoring
Each completed round adds one point, so surviving round twelve gives you twelve points. Your personal best is saved in your browser and shown beside your current round. No time limit — the only enemy is a lapse in memory. Can you chain twenty rounds?
