How to play

Peg Solitaire is the centuries-old logic puzzle, faithfully recreated for your browser. You start with 32 pegs on the classic English board and one empty hole in the middle. Your mission: remove pegs until only one remains. Jump any peg horizontally or vertically over an adjacent peg into an empty hole two spaces away — the jumped peg is captured and removed. Keep leaping until no jumps are left, then count your survivors.

Controls

Playing is pure point-and-click: tap a peg to select it (it glows purple and its legal landing holes light up), then tap a highlighted hole to make the jump. Tap the peg again to deselect. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys to move the cursor, Enter or Space to select and drop, U to undo a move, and R to restart the board. The ↩ Undo button rescues you from one bad jump — or a whole chain of them.

Tips

Think backwards: the perfect finish leaves a single peg in the center, so plan your final jumps toward the middle. Work from the outer arms inward — stray pegs stranded on an arm with no neighbor are impossible to remove. Don't be seduced by every available jump; a greedy leap often strands two pegs where one careful jump would have cleared both. If you get stuck early, restart and try a different opening: the first five moves decide most games. Undo is free, so experiment boldly and rewind when the board sours.

Scoring

There is no clock here — only the peg count matters. One peg left is a win, and a single peg sitting in the exact center is the legendary perfect game. Finishing with 2–4 pegs is brilliant, 5–8 is a solid solve, and anything under 12 means your logic is warming up. Fewer moves with fewer pegs left is always the better solve, so replay boards to beat your own record.
