How to play

Number Merge 2048 is the beloved sliding-tile puzzle in GameAdda's cheerful style. You start with a 4×4 grid and two tiles. Every swipe or arrow-key press slides all tiles as far as they can travel — when two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one worth double. After every successful move, a new 2 or 4 tile pops up somewhere. Your mission: keep merging until you build the legendary 2048 tile. The run ends when the grid is full and no merges remain, so every move matters.

Controls

Press the arrow keys or W A S D to slide tiles up, down, left or right. On touch screens — or with a mouse — swipe (or drag) across the board in the direction you want the tiles to travel. Press Enter or Space on the start screen to begin, and again after a game to play another round.

Tips

Corners are king: pick one corner and keep your biggest tile parked there all run — never swipe it loose. Build a descending chain (512, 256, 128…) along the edges into that corner so merges cascade. If your anchor sits at the bottom, avoid swiping up. Never strand a large tile in the middle, and when the board fills, slow down and plan two moves ahead. New tiles appear randomly, so always leave an escape route.

Scoring

Every merge adds the new tile's value to your score — merging two 64s earns 128 points, two 512s earns 1024. Chaining several merges in one move racks up points fast. Reaching 2048 is the headline goal, but you can keep going for even bigger tiles. Your best score is saved on this device.
