Glide your glass jar through the night garden to catch 20 fireflies — dodge the wasps and beat the 75-second timer!
How to play Firefly Catch
How to play
Night has fallen on the garden and the fireflies are out in force. Your job: glide your little glass jar around the garden and scoop up 20 fireflies before the 75-second timer runs out. Just move the jar over a firefly to catch it — each catch is worth 10 points and adds a tiny glow to your jar. But the garden has grumpy residents too: wasps patrol the flower beds with a red warning glow. Scoop one by mistake and you lose a life. Lose all 3 lives, or run out of time with fewer than 20 fireflies, and the run is over.
The jar drifts smoothly toward your pointer, so sweeping arcs work better than jerky zigzags. Fireflies blink and wander, so lead your target slightly. Wasps are faster and straighter than fireflies — when one crosses your path, pull the jar away and come back for the fireflies once it passes. New fireflies keep appearing, so the garden never runs dry.
Controls
- Mouse: move the pointer over the canvas — the jar glides to it.
- Touch: drag your finger across the garden.
- Keyboard: arrow keys nudge the jar in any direction.
- Enter starts the game; R restarts after a win or a loss.
Tips
- Circle the flower beds — fireflies cluster near the glowing blossoms at the bottom.
- Never chase a firefly that is hugging a wasp; the 15-point sting penalty and lost life are not worth 10 points.
- Keep moving in wide loops so you sweep whole patches of the garden instead of camping one corner.
Scoring
Each firefly is 10 points; a wasp sting costs 15 points plus one life. Catch all 20 before the clock hits zero to win. Your best score is saved in your browser for bragging rights on the next visit.
