How to play
Chipmunk Checkout is a 75-second grocery-rush game where you run the checkout lane at Acorn Mart. Items slide down the conveyor belt from right to left. Your job has two parts: first, scan every item by clicking (or tapping) it exactly while it sits inside the glowing red scanner zone — scan too early or too late and the register beeps angrily. Second, bag each scanned item into the correct bag: perishable food (apples, milk, bread, cheese, bananas) belongs in the blue food bag, and home goods (soap, batteries, candles, tissue, light bulbs) belong in the green home bag. Keep the belt moving, keep mistakes under 5, and the shift is yours.
Controls
- Scan: click or tap an item while it is inside the glowing scanner zone.
- Bag food: press 1 or ←, or tap the blue ❄️ bag.
- Bag home goods: press 2 or →, or tap the green 📦 bag.
- Start / restart: click the buttons or press Enter.
Tips
- Watch the belt's rhythm — items arrive faster every 15 seconds, so scan early and bag fast.
- The scanner zone glows brighter when an item is inside it: click the moment it lights up.
- Decide the bag while scanning — food emojis versus household emojis is the whole split.
- An unscanned item that slides past the scanner counts as a miss, so don't let items sneak by.
- It's better to scan late in the zone than to click early and eat a penalty.
Scoring
A clean scan earns 20 points and a correct bag earns 30, so a perfect item is worth 50. Mistakes (wrong-zone scans, missed items, wrong bags) subtract points and fill your mistake meter — 5 mistakes ends the shift early and the manager is not amused. Survive all 75 seconds to win: 600+ points earns three stars, 400+ two stars, and anything above zero keeps your cashier job.
