How to play

Checkers is the classic board duel: you command the red pieces at the bottom of the 8×8 board, and the computer plays the black pieces at the top. Take turns moving one piece diagonally to an adjacent dark square. The real fun starts with captures — hop over an enemy piece into the empty square behind it to remove it from the board. Capture every black piece and the game is yours.

Controls

Tap one of your red pieces to select it; its legal landing squares glow green — tap one to move there. Tap the piece again to deselect. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys to slide the cursor around the board, press Enter or Space to select a piece or confirm a highlighted square, U to undo your last round, and R to restart the match. The game works beautifully on touch screens, so phone play feels natural.

Tips

Remember the golden rule: captures are forced. If any jump is available, you must take one — so plan ahead and avoid offering the AI a free capture on your own turn. Sacrifice wisely: giving up one piece to set up a double or triple jump the next turn is often the winning play. Push pieces toward the far row to crown them into kings, which glide diagonally in every direction and dominate the board. Keep your back row covered as long as possible, since an empty back row invites AI kings. Count pieces constantly — when you are ahead, trade pieces aggressively to simplify into a win.

Scoring

There is no clock and no point tally here — victory is total. Win by capturing all twelve of the AI's pieces or by trapping them so they have no legal moves left. If forty quiet moves pass with no capture on either side, the game is declared a draw. Chase the cleanest win: the fewer pieces the AI has left when you corner it, the prouder the victory.
