How to play
Battleship Barrage is a classic naval duel against a cunning AI admiral on 8×8 grids. First comes the deployment phase: place your 5 ships — the Carrier (5 squares), Battleship (4), Cruiser (3), Submarine (3) and Destroyer (2) — anywhere on your grid. Click a square to drop the currently selected ship there, and press R (or the Rotate button) to switch between horizontal and vertical. Ships may not overlap or touch each other, not even diagonally, so leave breathing room. Lazy admiral? Hit Auto-place and the fleet deploys itself, or Shuffle for a fresh random layout. Once all five ships are placed, press Start Battle. You fire first: click any square in Enemy Waters. A 💥 means a hit, 🌊 a miss, and when every square of a ship is hit it sinks with a 🔥. The AI answers every one of your shots with one of its own — it hunts randomly, but once it hits one of your ships it zeroes in on the squares around the hit until that ship is gone. Sink all five enemy ships before the AI sinks yours to win.
Controls
- Mouse / touch: click your grid to place the current ship; click Enemy Waters to fire your shot.
- R or the ⟳ Rotate button: flip the ship being placed between horizontal and vertical.
- ✨ Auto-place: deploy all remaining ships randomly. 🔀 Shuffle: clear the grid and deploy the whole fleet randomly.
- ↻ New Game: restart from the deployment phase at any time.
Tips
Spread your ships across the whole grid — clustering them makes the AI's job easy once it finds one. The no-touching rule is your friend: leave single-square gaps so a revealed enemy ship doesn't hand the AI its neighbours. When hunting, the AI can't see your ships, so there is no perfect defence — but smaller ships (the 2-square Destroyer) are genuinely harder to find, so park yours in odd corners. On offence, finish what you start: once you score a hit, hammer the squares around it before chasing new contacts. A quick sunk ship is five fewer squares the AI... er, the enemy... gets to hide behind — every sunk ship is one step closer to victory.
Scoring
There is no point score in Battleship Barrage — the only currency is sunk steel. Win by sinking all 5 enemy ships while at least one of yours stays afloat. The results screen reports your shots fired, hit accuracy, and ships sunk, and your total career wins are saved on your device automatically.
